Burnetti Children’s Foundation Supports 2012 Lakeland Derby
On Friday, April 27th, participants and spectators will gather at Lake Mirror in downtown Lakeland for the 5th Annual Lakeland Derby, benefiting Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM). LVIM is a volunteer-run medical clinic that provides free quality medical care to the working uninsured of Polk County.
The annual event includes hat contests, live music, fireworks, food vendors, raffles and the signature Swan Boat Race, where jockeys paddle towards the finish line as they vie for the coveted Lakeland Derby Trophy.
The event raises funds for LVIM through money that companies or individuals pay to enter teams in the swan boat raise, and through activities like raffles. Burnetti Children’s Foundation will provide a reception for the event's sponsors and honored guests.
