Ford Windstar Minivans Recalled Due to Fractured Rear Axle
Ford has announced a voluntary recall of 27,000 minivans due to corrosion that over time can weaken the rear axle, making it susceptible to torsional stress increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, a fractured axle can affect vehicle handling, potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the rear axle:
- Model year 1998 Ford Windstar manufactured September 1997 through July 2003
Under the recall notice Ford will notify owners and dealers will inspect and install rear axle reinforcement brackets, or replace the axles and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
