Honda Recalls 2012 Civic Vehicles for Driveshaft Separation
Honda has announced a voluntary recall of 2,846 vehicles due to the improperly attached driveshaft, which may separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash or pedestrian injury.
According to the recall notice, if this occurs, the vehicle will have a loss of power and may roll away if the parking brake has not been set when the gear selector has been placed in the “park position,” potentially leading to a vehicle crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are driver’s side driveshaft:
- Model year 2012 Honda Civic manufactured 2011 through 2012
Under the recall notice, Honda will inspect that driver’s side driveshaft and install a new driveshaft, as needed and it will be performed free of charge. For more information, owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.
