Almost 800,000 child safety seats are being recalled because of a safety concern. In cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling several child restraint system models because there is a potential for the harness adjustment strap to loosen during use; if this were to happen, the harness may loosen around the child and possibly increase the risk of injury in a crash.
The voluntary recall includes a wide range of Cosco, Safety 1st and Maxi-Cosi convertible, booster, and infant seats, including some sold as part of a stroller travel system. A complete list of models may be found on this site. The recall was prompted by a NHTSA investigation after they received several consumer complaints that the straps on the seat had loosened.
Dorel Juvenile Group will contact registered owners of the affected car seats with information on how to obtain a free repair kit. If you have not registered your car seat, consumers may visit the Dorel Juvenile Group website to check to see if their model is included in this recall.
