Consumers will not be hopping up and down with excitement over Bravo Sports recent voluntary recall of 169,000 pogo sticks. The pogo sticks were recalled because the pogo stick’s frame tube and pin that holds the spring in place can break, causing cuts and fall hazards.
The recall involves four different pogo stick models: Rocket Stick Pogo, Pop Stick Pogo, Monster Stick Pogo and Twin Stick Pogo. The recalled red, green and blue colored pogos have the words Rocket, Pop, Monster or Twin printed on the stem and on the foot pedals, and manufacturing date codes between 04/01/2010 – 046HE and 10/31/2010 – 046HE printed on a white label underneath the foot pedal or on the stem. Manufactured in China, they were sold online and nationwide at mass merchandisers from May 2010 through March 2011. They ranged in price from $25 to $40.
Bravo Sports has received 123 reports of incidents involving the pogo sticks. Nine of the reports involved injuries, including chipped teeth and stitches for lacerations (cuts). Recalled pogo stick owners should stop using the pogo immediately.
