Zero Motorcycles, based out of Scotts Valley, CA, has issued a recall for certain Zero S Motorcycles.
The recall is to replace the front brake caliper, which has the potential for deformation under heavy breaking. If deformed, it may cause a misalignment and reduced brake function which could lead to a motorcycle accident.
Zero Motorcycles affected by the recall include:
- 2009 Zero S motorcycles assembled during September 2, 2009 to December 22, 2009
- 2010 Zero S motorcycles assembled during February 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011
- 2009 Zero DS motorcycles assembled during July 27, 2009 to December 28, 2009
- 2010 Zero DS motorcycles assembled during January 20, 2010 to March 31, 2011
Owners of the Zero S or the Zero DS are strongly encouraged to contact the nearest dealer as soon as possible. The dealer will replace the front brake caliper bracket and the front brake pads in case they experienced abnormal wear. The dealer will also change the brake fluid if there are any signs it has overheated.
