McNeil PPC Inc has recalled a lot of its Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets because of musty, moldy odor complaints from consumers.
The Tylenol caplets were sold nationwide in 225 count bottles and were manufactured in February 2009. The offensive odor has been linked to the presence of 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). In addition to the unpleasant smell, TBA may cause temporary, but not serious gastrointestinal symptoms.
The product lot number is located on the bottle’s side and pertains to only Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets (225 count bottles) with associated lot number of ABA619 and serial number of 300450444271.
Consumers are encouraged to stop using the product and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare at 1-888-222-6036 Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm EST or via the web at tylenol.com for instructions on obtaining a refund or product coupon and for additional information. Consumers with medical concerns should contact their healthcare provider.
