Hamilton Beach Brands Inc has recalled its classic 2-slice chrome toaster due to a potential fire hazard.
The toaster’s heating element can remain active when an item placed inside the toaster slot does not pop-up, creating the potential of igniting flammable items in the toaster’s vicinity.
Approximately 300,000 toasters were sold at department, grocery and home center stores nationwide and through multiple online outlets from February 2008 to June 2011 for $30-$40.
A chrome steel exterior, a front removable crumb tray, and ‘Hamilton Beach’ printed across the front may be used to identify the recalled toasters. The toaster’s control panel has a rotary toasting shade selector and function buttons arranged in an arc. The recall pertains to only those units with the model number 22600 and specific ranges of series code numbers.
