BMW of North America, LLC has issued a recall for the 2011 X3 model due to a possible malfunction of a control module, which may lead to a sudden loss in power steering.
Approximately 50 vehicles are included in this recall that were manufactured from April 27 to June 8, 2011. The recall pertains to a control module in the electric power steering unit that may malfunction. If the control module malfunctions, a sudden loss of power steering assistance may result increasing the risk of a car accident.
BMW is contacting owners to alert them of the recall, and dealers will repair the vehicles at no charge. Customers may also contact BMW Customer Relations and Services at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.
