General Motors LLC has issued a recall for three different makes and a total of eight different models due to the potential to lose control of steering.
The General Motors recall affects certain 2011 vehicles and relates to the intermediate steering shaft. The bolts used in attaching the intermediate steering shaft may have been improperly tightened. Improper tightening of the shaft may allow the joints to separate and the driver may experience steering loss, increasing the risk of an accident.
The vehicles included in the recall are:
Escalade ESV 1500
Yukon XL 1500
GMC dealers will inspect and repair the recalled vehicles by ensuring that the intermediate steering shaft bolts are properly tightened. Customers may also contact Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463 for additional information.
