The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that an Alabama woman who claims she was sickened by an infection caused by alcohol wipes has passed away, only days before she was scheduled to give her deposition in a lawsuit against Triad Group.
Triad Group, based in Wisconsin, are the makers of numerous products, including alcohol wipes, that have been recalled due to possible contamination with the Bacillus cereus bacteria. Numerous consumers have reported illnesses and even death that they believe are related to usage of the potentially contaminated wipes. According to the article, among these reports is a lawsuit from Ruby Hutcheson, who said she acquired a Bacillus cereus infection while using Triad alcohol pads as part of her treatment for osteoporosis. As a result of the Bacillus infection, the woman developed lesions in her abdomen which required multiple surgeries to treat. As doctors did not expect Ms. Hutcheson to live more than another two weeks, she was scheduled to provide an emergency deposition in her lawsuit. Even though she passed away before the deposition could be taken, pursuance of the lawsuit will continue.
