E-One, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of 220 fire trucks due to a flaw in the electronic stability control system (ESC) perceiving an over-steering situation and apply the outer wheel brakes. If the driver is slow to react during this intervention by the ESC, the vehicle may move from the intended driving path, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, if the driver is slow to react during this ESC intervention, the vehicle may deviate from the intended line of travel, potentially resulting in a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the electronic stability control:
