Daimler Trucks (DTNA) has announced a voluntary recall of 100 emergency vehicles due to the engine shutdown software that may have not been disabled and may lead to a crash.
According to the recall notice, if the vehicle operator receives and ignores multiple warnings indicating the need for operator intervention, the engine may shut down unexpectedly, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the engine shutdown software:
- Model year 2011 Freightliner Business Class M2 manufactured July 2010 through December 2011
- Model year 2011 Western Star 4900 manufactured July 2010 through December 2011
Under the recall notice DTNA will notify owners and dealers will disable the engine shutdown software free of charge. For addition information, owners may contact DTNA at 1-800-547-0712.
