Consumer groups are banding together to get the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall the popular Bumbo Baby Seat, according to Boston.com. The baby seats are to help infants sit up before they are able to do so on their own. Numerous injuries to babies have been reported as a result of using the baby seats.
The seats were previously recalled in October 2007. Images of the product depicted the seat being used on elevated surfaces such as tables. However, the product should only be used on the ground. The previous recall added a warning label to the seat to use it only on the ground.
Despite the previous recall and additional warning labels, more infants have suffered serious injuries from use on both ground level and elevated surfaces, including skull fractures and concussions.
