Honda has announced a voluntary recall of 8,709 vehicles due the valve case in the fuel tank assembly that does not meet the design specifications increasing the risk of a fire.
According to the recall notice, the fuel may leak from the tank, potentially leading to a fire. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the fuel tank:
- Model year 2012 Honda Pilot manufactured 2011 through 2012
- Model year 2012 Acura MDX manufactured 2011 through 2012
Under the recall notice Honda will notify owners and dealers will inspect the VSF assembly date and if necessary replace the fuel tank assembly and it will be performed free of charge. For addition information, owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1099.
