Volvo has announced a voluntary recall of 17,000 vehicles due to the wire harness under the front seats may not have been attached properly to the seat frame, increasing the risk of an injury.
According to the recall notice, in the event of a crash, the side and/or front air bags may deploy improperly or not at all,Â potentially leading to an injury. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the seat wiring harness:
- Model year 2012 Volvo S60 manufactured May 2011 through October 2011
- Model year 2012 Volvo S80 manufactured May 2011 through October 2011
- Model year 2012 Volvo XC60 manufactured May 2011 through October 2011
- Model year 2012 Volvo XC70 manufactured May 2011 through October 2011
Under the recall notice Volvo will notify owners and dealers will inspect and if necessary, secure the seat wire harness and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Volvo cars at 1-800-458-1552.
