General Motors (GM) has announced a voluntary recall of 6,159 vans and sport utility vehicles due to the steering gear pitman shaft that could fracture, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, if this condition occurs a loss of steering could result,Â potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the steering gear pitman shaft:
- Model year 2012 Chevrolet Express manufactured in 2012
- Model year 2012 Chevrolet Suburban manufactured in 2012
- Model year 2012 GMC Savana manufactured in 2012
- Model year 2012 GMC Yukon XL manufactured in 2012
Under the recall notice GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering gear and replace the steering gear pitman shaft if necessary and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
