Chrysler has announced a voluntary recall of 67,872 vehicles due to the transmission skid plate, which is close to the catalytic converter that can collect debris and may lead to a vehicle fire.
According to the recall notice, if this occurs, the debris can ignite without warning, potentially leading to a vehicle fire. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the skid plate:
- Model year 2010 Jeep Wrangler manufactured 2009 to 2010
Under the recall notice, Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will replace the skid plate with a skid bar and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
