Ford has announced a voluntary recall of 8,266 sport utility vehicles due to the mis-positioned carpet padding that may reduce the clearance relative to the brake pedal, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, the reduced clearance may result in the driver’s foot contacting the side of the brake pedal while transferring the foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake, potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the sunroof:
- Model year 2013 Ford Escape manufactured March 2012 through June 2012
Under the recall notice, Ford will notify owners and dealers will remove the carpet padding and left-side console trim panel replaced with a new panel and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
