Ford Motor Company is recalling 11,500 sport utility vehicles due to a risk of an engine fire. Ford is also warning drivers to stop driving them immediately because of the risk. The issue affects the new 2013 model Ford Escape SUVs.
The safety issue affects the 2013 Ford Escape models with 1.6 liter engines. It is extremely rare for an automaker to warn drivers to stop driving their recalled vehicles. The company has not received any reports of injuries to date.
