Ford has announced a voluntary recall of 423,634 vehicles due the insufficient clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connect, which could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, increasing the risk of a crash, serious injury or death.
According to the recall notice, a stuck throttle may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop or slow the vehicle, potentially leading to a crash, serious injury or death. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the engine cover:
- Model year 2001 Ford Escape manufactured October 1999 through January 2004
Under the recall notice Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles by increasing the engine cover clearance and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
If you’ve been severely injured by a recalled product, defective product attorneys may be able to help you pursue a claim for compensation. For more information, call 1-888-BURNETTI.
