Kasel Associated Industries has issued an immediate recall for Boots & Barkley Five-Inch American Beef Bully Sticks for possible salmonella. The affected products come in a pack of six. The sticks were distributed to Target stores from April through September 2012.
Both animals and humans may be affected by this recall. Salmonella can make animals who eat the affected treats sick, and humans who do not was their hands after handling the treats may become sick also. Infected humans may experience nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever. Pets with salmonella poisoning may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. They may also experience abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and fever. If your pet has consumed the contaminated product, contact your veternarian.
The product comes in a clear plastic bag containing 6 bully sticks marked with bar code number 647263899189. Kasel Industries is recalling all lot numbers because the following lot codes tested positive through analysis by the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture: BESTBY20APR2014DEN, BESTBY01JUN2014DEN, BESTBY23JUN2014DEN, and BESTBY23SEP2014DEN.
