BMW has announced a voluntary recall of 2,385 motorcycles due to a manufacturing fault that may cause the side-stand attachment bolts to loosen, increasing the risk of a personal injury.
According to the recall notice, a separation of the side-stand could cause the motorcycle to fall, potentially leading to an injury. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the side-stand mounting plate bolts:
- Model year 2012 BMW S 1000 RR manufactured September 2011 through December 2012
Under the recall notice, BMW will notify owners and dealers will clean the side-stand mounting plate threads and replace the side-stand mounting plate bolts, and it will be performed free of charge.
