According to the recall notice, if the primary hood latch is not engaged, if the primary hood latch is not engaged, the hood could open,Â potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the secondary hood latch:
- Model year 2010 Chevrolet Colorado manufactured November 2009 through August 2012
- Model year 2010 GMC Canyon manufactured November 2009 through August 2012
Under the recall notice, General Motors will notify owners and instruct them to inspect their vehicle for the presence of a secondary hood latch. Dealers will replace the hood if necessary on affected vehicles and it will be performed free of charge.
