Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for almost 13,000 vehicles due to faulty locking systems. 2013 Ford Explorer, Taurus and Lincoln MKS models are issued in the recall because the child safety lock mechanisms may become deactivated. Ford will notify owners that the activated safety locks can suddenly disengage. If the child lock is no longer active, the door could be opened from the inside posing a risk of injury to a child.
The models were manufactured from November through December 2012 and Ford’s recall number is 13S07. Ford states that if the child safety lock mechanisms do not work in the recalled vehicles they will be replaced at no cost to the owners. Owners with additional questions or concerns can contact Ford customer center.
