Target has issued a voluntary recall on ready-to-eat salads, slaws, and dips due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The Target brand products include Market Pantry, Archer Farms, D’Amico, Roundy’s, Grandpa’s, Maggie’s and Finest Tradition, Chef’s Kitchen, Garden Fresh, Weis, Spartan and Portillo brands. The ready-to-eat salads, slaws, and dips include potato salad, macaroni salad, chicken salad, coleslaw, dill dip, taco dip, and artichoke spinach dip among others.
Listeria infections can affect people with weakened immune systems, including older adults, pregnant women and newborns. Listeria is especially a concern for pregnant women due to higher risks of miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature delivery. According to the Centers of Diease Control and Prevention, symptoms of Listeria include muscle aches, fever, headaches, stiffness, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
The recalled products were sold in Florida and 11 other states in 6-ounce to 18-ounce packages. For a full list of the recalled products, click here. Customers can return the recalled salads, slaws, and dips to Target stores for a full refund.
