Perrigo has voluntarily recalled 18 batches of its Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid, 160mg/5 mL, because the medication syringes may not be labeled with dose markings. Acetaminophen is used to help treat fevers and minor aches and pains. Without proper markings an infant could receive the wrong dose which could overload the liver and cause life-threatening side effects.
Sold at Publix, Babies R Us, Walgreens, and stores nationwide, the recall includes 2-ounce and 4-ounce bottles that have a white or yellow syringe plunger without dose markings. If the syringe is labeled with dose markings for 1.25 mL, 2.5 mL, 3.75 mL, and 5 mL, the product is not recalled.
Consumers who have the defective syringe should contact Perrigo’s Consumer Affairs Department at 1-800-719-9620.
