Volkswagen has recalled 2.6 million vehicles around the world for various lighting and transmission issues. The recall includes approximately 800,000 2009-2011 model years compact Tiguan sports vehicles due to light fuse problems, which can cause exterior lighting failures. The fuse socket poses a risk of overheating, which could cause a partial or complete loss of exterior lights increasing the risk for a collision.
More than 621,563 Audis and Beetles, manufactured from January 2009 through June 2013 are recalled for transmission issues that can lead to electrical issues and safety problems. 2013-2014 model year Jetta hybrids with direct-shift automatic transmissions are recalled for electrical problems in the gearbox that can cause corrosion. The synthetic fluid in the gearbox can cause loss of power to the front wheels. 2-liter Amarok pickup trucks are also included in the recall because fuel can spill from the engines.
Volkswagen will inform owners if their vehicle is one of the 2.6 million recalled and will make repairs at no cost.
