Denver Global Products has issued a recall on Raven Multi-Purpose Yard Vehicles, sold exclusively at Lowe’s, for laceration and fire hazards. At least 82 incidents have been reported of blades detaching, including one resulting in lacerations and bruising to a bystander’s legs. There are also reports of the vehicle starting without being activated as well as incidents where the fuel lines can leak which can cause fires.
The recalled Raven yard vehicles were manufactured December 26, 2012 through May 7, 2013. The gas powered vehicles can be used as a lawn mower, garden tractor, or portable generator. The vehicles also contain a cargo bed and 46-inch detachable cutting deck.
The serial numbers for the recalled multi-purpose vehicles are located on an identification plate on the rail near the front wheel. The model number MPV710-001 and “Denver Global Products Inc” are also listed.
Consumers should stop using the vehicles, turn off and remove the key, and remove the green and yellow fuses from the fuse holder under the seat. Consumers can return the vehicle to Lowe’s stores for full refunds.
