Michelin has recalled 1.3 million tires in the U.S. for tread loss that could increase the risk of a collision. The tire tread can separate and cause rapid air loss which can result in loss of vehicle control. Approximately 200 incident reports have been made, including 20 property damage reports.
The tires included in the recall are size LT225/75R16 115/112R LRE and were sold between January 2010 and June 2012. The tires were installed on larger vehicles such as 2010-2013 Ford E-Series vans, full size heavy duty vans, light duty commercial trucks, or large pickup trucks and smaller RVs. The tires were sold as original equipment and as new replacement tires.
Consumers can visit Michelin’s Safety Recall page to see if their tires are recalled. Michelin will notify owners and will replace the recalled tires at no charge.
