2009 Corolla XRS.
Toyota has issued five recalls for 6.4 million vehicles globally. The recall includes over 1.3 million vehicles sold in the U.S. for airbag issues and almost 475,000 vehicles for front seat defects.
The largest recall involves a defective spiral cable that is damaged with the motion of the wheel turns which can cause the vehicles airbags to deactivate, increasing the risk for injuries in the event of a crash. The Toyota models recalled are:
- 2009-2010 Corollas
- 2009-2010 Matrixes
- 2008-2010 Highlanders
- 2009-2010 Tacomas
- 2006-2008 RAV4s
- 2006-2010 Yaris compacts
The second recall includes 2006-2010 Yaris hatchbacks, 2007-2010 Yaris sedans, and 2008-2010 Scion xDs because the front seats of the car can unlock, posing a risk for it to move in the event of a crash and increasing the possibility of injury.
