Nissan has issued a recall for approximately 238,000 2013 year model Altima cars for latch defects. The latch can gather debris and rust which can cause them to stay unlatched when the vehicle hood is closed. The hood could open while the vehicles are in motion which increases the risk of getting in an accident and sustaining injuries.
The Altima is one of Nissan’s top-selling cars in the nation. Approximately 219,000 vehicles are recalled in the U.S. and the rest are recalled in Canada, Mexico, and South Korea. Nissan dealers will modify the latch lever and clean the latch assembly and joints.
