IKEA has recalled approximately 169,000 crib mattresses due to entrapment risks that can cause infants to become entrapped in the gap between the mattress and the crib. The gap in the crib is larger than federal regulations allow and there have been two reports of infants becoming trapped.
Sold since August 2010, the recalled mattresses are the VYSSA models with the manufacture date of May 4, 2014 and earlier. Consumers can find the manufacture date on a label attached to the mattress cover.
The models recalled are:
- VYSSA Vackert
- VYSSA Vinka
- VYSSA Spelevink
- VYSSA Sloa
- VYSSA Slummer
Crib owners should test the gap from the edge of the crib to the mattress by making sure the gap is not larger than the width of two fingers. Owners with the recalled VYSSA mattresses should stop using the mattresses and return it to IKEA for a full refund.
