Ford has recalled almost 400,000 vehicles due to latch defects that can cause doors to fly open while the cars are in motion. The vehicle models recalled are the Ford Fiesta, Ford Fusion, and Lincoln MKZ sedans.
Ford has received 451 reports of doors flying open, many of which occurred while the car was driven. At least two individuals were injured when the doors rebounded back into passengers and in one instance a door flew open and struck a parked vehicle.
The following year vehicles and models are recalled:
- 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta assembled from 2/1/2012 through 5/31/2013
- 2013-2014 Ford Fusion assembled from 7/1/2012 through 5/31/2013
- 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ assembled from 7/1/2012 through 5/31/2013
Owners of the recalled vehicles can return them to the dealers where they will replace all four door latches for free.
