This case involved a helicopter crash in which the pilot and four passengers were severely injured. Our firm represented the pilot in the crash. The allegations were that the helicopter maintenance company left a roll of plastic in a hidden compartment on the top of the aircraft. As the aircraft took off, the plastic material wrapped around the rotors and was sucked into the intake, causing the engine to stall and inhibiting the pilot’s ability to safely guide to the ground. The pilot did an immaculate job of landing the craft. However, the craft broke up at landing causing significant injuries to all parties. Fortunately, no one died. The client had significant orthopedic injuries to his ankle, leg, back, and face. After extensive litigation, the matter settled for $2.5 million dollars just prior to trial. The client was very pleased with the outcome and was made whole by the settlement.
