Volkswagen has recalled 420,000 vehicles for air bag issues. Debris can cause the cable that powers the air bags to rip, causing the air bags to not deploy in the event of a crash. Volkswagen received nine consumer complaints about the issue.
The eight models issued in the recall are:
- 2010 to 2014 CC, Passat, and Tiguan models
- 2010 to 2013 Eos and Jetta models
- 2011 to 2014 Golf and GTI models
- 2011 to 2013 Jetta SportWagen model
Volkswagen will notify owners of the recalled vehicles. However, if owners see the warning air bag monitoring light on they should contact a dealer immediately. For additional information, owners can call Volkswagen customer service members at  1-800-822-8987.
