Kawasaki has announced a voluntary recall of 20,512 motorcycles due to a manufacturing error that the regulator may insufficiently charge the battery increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, if the battery discharges the motorcycle may stall without warning, potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the voltage regulator:
- Model year 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R manufactured December 2007 through July 2011
- Model year 2009 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R manufactured December 2007 through July 2011
Under the recall notice, Kawasaki will notify owners and dealers will replace the voltage regulator and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Kawasaki at 949-770-0400.
