Porsche has announced a voluntary recall of 270 vehicles due to the turbocharger’s turbine wheels that may fracture due to a casting defect, which may cause the vehicle performance to decrease and/or cause the turbine shaft to fracture, increasing the risk of a fire.
According to the recall notice, if the shaft fractures, oil may be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in smoke and potentially leading to a fire. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the turbine wheels:
- Model year 2012 Porsche Cayenne manufactured 2011 through 2012
- Model year 2011 Porsche Panamera manufactured 2011 through 2012
- Model year 2012 Porsche Panamera manufactured 2011 through 2012
Under the recall notice, Porsche will notify owners and dealers will replace the turbine wheels and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243.
