Barber Foods has recalled over 1.7 million pounds of frozen chicken products for salmonella contamination. The recall includes almost 90 packaged chicken meals with the establishment number P-276 that were produced from February 17, 2015 through May 20, 2015 and sold in retail stores nationwide.
Some of the Barber Food chicken meals in the recall include: chicken cordon bleu, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken, parmesan chicken, and chicken fingers.

At least six people suffered from salmonella enteritidis illnesses after consuming the chicken products. Salmonella is a foodborne illness that causes abdominal cramps, fevers, and gastrointestinal issues that can last up to a week. Individuals with weakened immune systems could develop severe side effects.
Officials warn consumers to make sure raw items are fully cooked and to treat frozen products like raw chicken instead of pre-cooked meals.
