Ace Bayou recalls its bean bag chairs after two reported deaths due to suffocation and choking. The bean bag chairs have a zipper that can be opened by children, which could cause children to become trapped and possibly suffocating them to death. A new standard requires bean bag chairs to have a permanently closed zipper.
The recall included 2.2 million bean bag chairs that were sold in different sizes, shapes, and colors. Some are shaped like an “L” and were sold in purple, violet, blue, yellow, red, pink, green, black, navy, turquoise, and orange colors.
The recalled bean bag chairs were sold at Walmart stores nationwide or online at Amazon.com. Consumers with the bean bag chairs should look for any zippers that can open and contact Ace Bayou for a free repair kit to disable the zippers.
