Almost 70,000 Char-Broil Gas Patio Bistro Grills have been recalled for burn hazards. The grill’s electronic ignition can unexpectedly ignite, which can cause burns. There have been at least 26 known reports of the flame going out and then suddenly reigniting after the owner turned the grill’s switch to “OFF.” Out of the incident reports, four of them reported burns to customers.
The recalled grills were sold from September 2010 through June 2013 in hardware and retail stores nationwide, including Target, Home Depot, Sears, and Ace Hardware. The recall includes the 240 Full Size Gas Patio Bistro Grill as well as the 180 Table Top Grill. The grills are round and black with silver trim and are single-burner propane gas grills. The words “Char-Broil” and “Patio Bistro” are located on the grill’s lid near the thermometer. The model numbers are:
