General Motors (GM) has announced a voluntary recall of 3,150 vehicles due to an increase in temperature due to the power steering pump and may result in a fire.
According to the recall notice, an elevated fluid temperature may cause leaking fluid, in the presence of an ignition source, potentially resulting in a fire. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the power steering fluid:
- Model year 2011 Chevrolet Captiva manufactured October 2009 through April 2011
Under the recall notice, GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the power steering fluid cooler with an improved version, free of charge. For addition information, owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438.
