Elegant Gifts Mart recently announced a recall of its Children’s Chairs and Stools.The company initiated the recall but no injuries have been reported.
The yellow surface paint on the metal frame of the children’s chairs and stools contains excessive levels of lead paint, which is prohibited under federal law.
The Children’s chairs and stools were sold from September 2010 through June 2011. The children’s folding chairs and stools have yellow metal tube frames. The plastic seat, seat backs and stool have a cartoon-like scene with monkeys, teddy bears, mushrooms and heart-shaped balloons. The folding chairs and stools have “PENGKO” printed on the chair’s heart-shaped seatback, “JCA8036” printed on the white sticker underneath the chair’s seat and “JCA8037” printed on a white sticker underneath the stool.
Approximately 1,600 chairs and 1,300 stools were sold at 1 to Seven stores in Puerto Rico from September 2010 through June 2011 for in between $5 and $6 each.
According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately take the recalled tables and folding chairs away from children and return them to any 1 and Seven store in Puerto Rico for a full refund.
