Chrysler has announced a voluntary recall of 44,300 trucks due to a rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to a lack of adhesive, increasing the risk a crash.
According to the recall notice, if the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the pinion nut retainer:
- Model year 2009 Dodge Dakota manufactured June 2009 through November 2009
- Model year 2009 Dodge RAM 1500 manufactured June 2012 through July 2012
Under the recall notice, Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a pinion nut retainer, and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
