Bodum rose gold glass coffee presses, sold exclusively at Starbucks, have been recalled for laceration and burn hazards. The glass can fall out of the metal frame and base and the coffee press can shatter, causing lacerations and burns to users.
The 28,000 recalled presses were sold throughout the nation at Starbucks stores or at starbucks.com from November through December 2013. The rose gold coffee presses have an 8-cup glass coffee holder with a screen and plunger held inside with a plastic base. Consumers can locate “Bodum” printed on a white label on the bottom of the press, as well as the SKU number 11029732.
At least 14 incident reports have been received, including instances of the glass carafes breaking or shattering while in use causing burns and lacerations. Consumers should stop using the coffee presses and return them to Starbucks stores. If purchased online, consumers should contact Bodum for information on how to receive a return label for a full refund.
