Ford Motor Company has announced a voluntary recall of 13,239 stripped chassis vehicles due to an incorrect gear indication in the instrument panel on the automatic transmission increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, an incorrect gear indication in the instrument panel may prevent the driver from knowing if they are in park or reverse,Â potentially leading to a crash. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the transmission selector arm:
- Model year 2011 Ford F-53 manufactured February 2010 through July 2011
- Model year 2011 Ford F-59 manufactured February 2010 through July 2011
Under the recall notice, Ford will notify owners and dealers will replace the transmission selector arm assembly and the â€œPRNDLâ€ cable assembly and it will be performed free of charge. For addition information, owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.
