Ford has issued a recall on approximately 423,000 vehicles because the power steering may fail. The recalled sedans and SUVs include 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Flex crossovers, 2011-2012 Ford Fusions and Lincoln MKZs, and 2011 Mercury Milans.
The power steering may fail while the car is in motion causing a risk of a crash due to the steering wheel becoming hard to manually turn. Ford has received at least 508 complaints about the power steering failing and at least four reported accidents due to the issue.
Dealers will replace the steering gear or update the control software on the recalled vehicles.
