GM has expanded its previous recall of 800,000 vehicles to 1.37 million after the deaths linked to the defective ignition rose from six to thirteen. The recalled vehicles can shut off without warning if a heavy key chain pulls the car from “run” to “accessory” positions. Not only can the vehicle engines unexpectedly shut off, but the airbags can also become disabled.
2005-2007 Chevy Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5 models were already recalled. Adding to the recall expansion are the following models:
- 2003-2007 Saturn Ion
- 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR
- 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice
- 2006-2007 Saturn Sky
