Honda is recalling two of their vehicles for a flaw in the door latches that may result in the door to fly open while driving. The issue affects 172,000 vehicles, specifically the 2013 Acura ILX luxury sedan and the 2012 Honda CR-V crossover-utility vehicle (CUV).
The safety issue affects 166,000 CR-Vs and 6,200 ILXs. The door may open either while driving or while standing still due to the inner door handle release cable may become partially disengaged if the driver and passenger doors are operated simultaneously. The company has not received any reports of injuries or accidents due to this flaw to date.
Honda is notifying affected owners of these vehicles, and repairs for the door latch problem will be made at no charge to the consumer. For additional information, owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.
