Honda has announced a voluntary recall of 268,655 sport utility vehicles due to the driver-side power switch may fail or melt, possibly causing a vehicle fire.
According to the recall notice, if the switch breaks, it could overheat, possibly resulting in a fire. A fire may occur if the vehicle is not running or in use. The owners are being asked as a precaution to park the vehicle outside until the recall repair has been performed. The recalls affects the following vehicles that are equipped with the power window switch:
- Model year 2002 Honda CR-V manufactured February 2002 through July 2006.
Under the recall notice, Honda will notify owners and dealers will inspect and repair the switches, and it will be performed free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
